Everyone seems to be suffering from withdrawal today! The team can't get over the Sikh temple hospitality! Well, the Kenya Red Cross E-plus team and the Kenya Police are here ready to escort our team to Kibwezi. It's time to hit the road.
The team is off to Kibwezi, 24km away. The walk is going well, and our men in blue from the National Police Service are flanking the team, ensuring they are secure. I observe how the highway is busy with small scale business people going about their trade  selling fruit, vegetables and charcoal. It is well worth noting that majority of them are women. They are on the roadside ensuring their babies are fed and clothed, with a roof over their heads.
These are the very people who inspired the Step by Step Campaign! They are the reason why Thomas Chacha, Nyangi Nyamohanga, Daniel Chogo, Philip Rogoro and Peter Chacha are pounding the tarmac, day in, day out, to raise Ksh. 50, 000, 000. They mean  business. They appreciate the very vital role that Wanjiku,  Mwende, Anyango, Farida, Kerubo, Amina, Chebet, Nalei and Amreet have equal opportunity in seeing their tomorrow by eradicating cervical cancer in Kenya.
Our women-folk are so engrossed in seeking daily sustenance for their loved ones, they hardly pay attention to their own bodies. As they go about their business, cervical cancer creeps in silently, taking residence in their bodies and quietly taking over their lives. By the time the woman is even remotely aware that something somewhere is not right, the cancer is too far gone.
As the miles tick by and the finish line draws closer,  I pray that the statement made by these five indomitable men is loud enough to make us all rise up to the occasion.
